ISO management system standards: Climate change becomes a focus for standard requirements 4.1 and 4.2

The international ISO organisation decided on 18 September 2023 to include climate change as a focal point in all management system standards.
This involves the following additions to standard requirements 4.1 and 4.2:
4.1 Understanding the organisation and its context
Addition: "The organisation should determine whether climate change is a relevant key issue."
4.2 Understanding stakeholder needs and expectations
Addition: "NOTE: Relevant stakeholders may have requirements related to climate change."
It was decided to apply an accelerated validation process for these amendments so that they would be published as early as the first quarter of 2024.
During audits, BQA notes that for many clients, these amendments are confirmation of what they experience every day, namely that climate change has become an issue in business.
